Mmm, dystopia. I think the last few years may have taken a bit of the edge off this story - we've seen the Christian right at the height of its power, and women still have jobs and names. Then I think that the environmental and population pressures that preceded the events of the story, and about the annihilation of women's rights under the Taliban, and I get a good deal less glib. As literature, it's pretty gripping considering that the main character spends most of her time sitting alone in a room.
