Ginny's review
From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs Basil E. Frankweiler
by E.L. Konigsburg
I too missed this as a kid, but read it in my 20s when my sister was taking kid's lit in college. I really love all EL Koningsberg's books, but I think my favorite is the one written after this one, IIRC, "Jennifer, Hecate, William McKinley and Me" Or something like that, I always get lost after Jennifer, Hecate.... Long title, great book.

This is another book I missed as a kid by being born too early. (It’s a tradeoff, of course; at least I got to see the Beatles on Ed Sullivan.)
Five years ago, just a few months before she died, my mother asked me to find this book for her. I had never heard of it and might not have remembered it except that I still have the little piece of paper on which she wrote the title for me.
I loved this wonderful and very funny tale of a grand adventure—about running away from home and hiding out in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It's a nice little treat. Thanks, Mom!
