I couldn't finish the whole book. It was like reading a text book that has some flair. And it was straight up astrophysics, fact after fact, which I'm really interested in, but it takes forever to read and process (and reread and reprocess). Its "accessibility" is both good and bad. The author is NOT a physicist. So how has he mastered this knowledge? Good question. I took his ideas at face value. Although I do agree with his psychological assessments of why people are turned off from astronomy, physics and science in general. People don't want to feel insignificant. People want themselves to be the center of their concept of the universe. But it's waaayyy too big for that kind of thinking!!

Katie This book is really informative and readable, so I'm absorbing a lot so far. Thinking about the vastness of the universe is scary. This book doesn't alleviate any of my fears. But I like physics, and it seems like this book will be good.
