Moore takes the idea of re-telling King Lear from the Fool's perspective and makes a very funny hash of the whole thing. My second favorite Moore novel after Lamb now.

I'm not a Shakespeare expert by any means, and I really enjoyed it because it is an entertaining and funny story in and of itself. I think I probably missed some winks and nods towards the play, but my old high school English class reading of it and the ever helpful Wikipedia were enough for me.
