Heat, by: Mike Lupica, was a really good and thrilling book, Heat is mainly about a boy name Michael Arroyo, he grew up in New York, but was born in Cuba like the rest of his family. Living near Yankee Stadium, his father dreamed of his son playing in the little league world series that would be in Yankee Stadium. But neither his mother nor father were able to see this happen, his mother died of cancer when Michael was at a really young age, and his father died of a heart attack later on in life. Michael was from Cuba, and was sent with his older brother Carlos, who is only months away from being 18, and then he can be a legal guardian of Michael, but until that time they had to keep it a secret, Michael loved his brother and didn’t want to be separated from him. Michael could throw an easy 80 mile an hour fast ball on his little league team, but without a birth certificate from the U.S., and no proof of citizenship, and a snotty coach and his spoiled son from the rival team trying to get Michael kicked out because of no birth certificate, Michael will have to fight his way to play the sport that he loves. But I’m not going to give away the ending, trust me; this book will keep you hanging, although it starts off slow at the beginning, this book shows the love of a kid and sport that will never end, it shows courage and hope from a kid who’s chances of ever being in the little league world series being slim to none. I chose this book because I love sports, although I love football more than baseball, this book made me think a little bit more about baseball, and how passionate this sport really is. I knew that this book would be great, and you will find it that way too. Heat is a great baseball book and since baseball is my second most favorite sport. Hope you enjoy Heat.
