I struggled to get through this book at first. The language, names and Jewish customs were all very unfamiliar to me. I had the first two volumes in this series, and then when I finally tracked down the third one, it had been long enough, I couln't remember the story line very well, so I went back and re-read the first two volumes. I enjoyed them much more the second time. I have now read them each 4 times, and the last time I read them, I read with the purpose of cross refrencing some of Lund's teachings, to my scriptures. I now enjoy reading and understanding the New Testament much more as a result of reading these books. Just as a note, I appreciate Gerald Lund as an author, and I believe his research is outstanding and above reproach. I also find his interpretations of the scriptures to be accurate, and have found these feelings to be confirmed in prayer. This method may not work for everyone, but I feel it has helped me a great deal.
