I was looking for a mindless way to spend a Saturday. I got what I asked for. My biggest problem with romance writers is that once I find one whose writing style I like, I'll read everything by her. But then I'll realize how often they repeat plot devices. This author, for example, always has the Regency-era woman "compromised," making marriage required. So instead of the romantic conflict being about whether they live happily ever after, the conflict is about whether the hero will say "I love you." I mean, I've read several by this author and they are all the same! I think that's why an author like Jennifer Crusie is a notch above because she continues to be original.
