17th century Hindustan and the building of the Taj Majal. This book has a love story, wars and family loyalty all set around the building of the great mausoleum.

Susan I can't wait to read this. I once heard that the wife
spent all of her days living in tents on the battle field --miserable -- Not until she was dead did she
get the palace.. It always bothered me that he waited
til she was dead to 'show' her he loved her. You gave it 5 stars.. must be great.

Vicar Sayeedi Thanks, Christen. Susan, it's true. Mumtaz accompanied Shah Jahan on all his military ventures. The two were inseparable and very devoted to one another. The nature of their love was far beyond the physical and was deeply rooted in an alliance formed between them at a very early age. They were betrothed to one another from the age of about 14 until they married at about 19. The political and social environment in Lal Qila were particularly important factors in their closeness.
