A lovely, poignant story of a little girl's desire to do her best at Shabbat group. She rehearsed and rehearsed her solo in her best singing voice...but, on the night before her solo, her voice feels funny. Her older brother, Nachum, teases her. He tells her she sounds like a goat or a lamb...BAA! Then! she has a brilliant idea that will fit perfectly with her rough, low voice. Ellie's Shabbat Surprise by Beverly Mach Geller is a story full of promise, self-confidence, and resourcefulness. The colorful, 70's-reminiscient illustrations are delighful and unique. They add a perfect visual dimension to the story.
