really liked it
bookshelves: historical-fiction

After spending time in upstate New York, I can definitely relate the town of Aberdeen to the small towns and farming communities I passed (and had to go to traffic court in). I really enjoyed Truly's inner dialogs. She is a straight-forward, sensible person surrounded by the insensibility that her physique evokes in others. Amelia and Marcus are also wonderful, complex characters and they embody very different aspects that come together within Truly. I think everyone has met their share of Robert Martins in the world, and knowing they don't always get the last laugh is a satisfying thought.
