Minekura seems to be one of those mangaka who level up with each successive volume. at least, wild adapter starts good and so far shows no signs of not getting better. the art is perfectly suited to the story and vice versa - it's sort of seinen for girls.

this volume takes us back to the beginning of the story, seen through the eyes of a loner middle-schooler with his own problems. the focus is on the relationship between kubota and tokito, which i think none of us would deny is an excellent thing.
