it was ok
bookshelves: ya-lit, couldn-t-finish-try-again
Read in April, 2009

I'm embarrassed that I couldn't finish this book. It had such a geeky, fun premise and I was really looking forward to it, especially after seeing the (awful) trailer for the movie, and realizing I owned the book, and hadn't picked it up yet.

Just couldn't get into it. Something about the flow and pacing of the book really turned me off. The idea was brilliant, I'm a huge fan of last night of high school movies/themes in books etc. And Larry Doyle wrote for Daria (!!!) and the Simpsons! How could I not love it?

Well, I didn't. In fact, I made it about half way through, up until the main character had his face shoved against his beloved Beth Cooper's underpants (by accident, mind you), and I just gave up. I realized that no matter how much I love the idea of a book, sometimes you have to concede.

Brittany My friend got an advance readers edition copy of this book about a year ago before it came out and she was equally unenthused so don't feel bad! She only finished it because that's part of how the program works where we get free books from...needless to say I was SUPER surprised to see it was being made into a movie after her panning of the book.

dearlittledeer I trudged through it this week. Super disappointing!
