Bhagavad-Gita As It Is
by A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, Anonymous
I agree with you, even the poetic value of gita is absolutely great, but I think the Upanishads (Ken upnishad and Ish upnishad which I read) are even more thrilling, and can beat any MODERN poets hands down, do read them if u can.
PS: I had an impression that upnishads are thick books of sanskrit texts, but they are actually small poems! (not more than 3 pages for one upnishad!)
Ya I liked Kenopnishad and Ishopnishad too. I read them as poems rather than books of knowledge. Besides I look at those books from a poet's perspectives. Patrick Ollivelle's translations of Upanishads is excellent.Available in Oxford U Press.

I read Srimad Bhagwad Gita long time back. I dont take its moral seriously but I loved the poetry of it, the images and occasional insights.
