I will admit that this book majorly opened my eyes to the persecution of Christians in China (and other places.) I always knew in the back of my mind that this type of persecution existed in the world, but since America is so tolerant, I never truly realized that there are Christians out there who are really dying to self each and every day as they walk their walk with Jesus. The book has given me a heart to pray for them, and also changed my perspective as I thank God for the many blessings he has given me and the mercies he has showered on my life. With that said though, I was not completely enthralled with the story. It was decent, don't get me wrong. The author did a lot of teaching about Chinese history and persecution within the story and it just wasn't blended well. You had lovable characters suddenly entering into these long monologues that could be read out of a nonfiction book. Obviously, it didn't deter me in reading the book, but it was annoying enough that I had to mention it
