Informative and interesting... but mainly because I teach the Impressionists to my high school students. Reading more about the Impressionists as people gave me some juicy stuff to share with my kids! I'm not sure I would've enjoyed this book as a just "pick it up and read for fun" kinda read.

I will say it was cool to read about things that happened in the streets of Paris as it was evolving as a city (and the impact those changes had on the art world). Having taken a recent trip to France, it made me feel snobbish and important to think, "Hey! I was there! I remember that street!"
