I hated this book. I suffered through it til I got to page 155, third paragraph. What is worse than how graphic I found it, and for no good reason than I could discern, is that I have never been a mindless, happy carnivore since. And so maybe that is not a bad thing. I literally became a vegan for 4 months following my aborted reading of this book, and I re(pro?) gress and eschew meat (I could not help myself) for months at a time periodically. So maybe this book has made me a better person, but like most things that do so, it was painful, unenjoyable and something I never EVER want to experience again. EVER

Paula Fogle This was a book club selection for my group, but I didn't have a chance to read the book. Those in my group who did read the book said that they enjoyed it once they got to a certain point. Personally, I don't feel that I missed out on a great read.
