Recommended for: Anyone who wants to know more about plains indains
Read in October, 1991, read count: 2

I read this book for a Native American Literature class way back in college. I was thinking about it again because I'm reading Sherman Alexie right now. The book is the total package: great story, grounded in historical research, and totally engrossing. If you want a sense of what life in the plains was like colonization, this is the book to read.
