This book spawned a new genre. I know some other works and authors were involved with cyberpunk prior to this novel, but cyberpunk would have been a 2-year long, long forgotten fad, if this novel had not been written.

It was also a special re-read. I wouldn't say it was an overly difficult or cumbersome read the first time, but its uniqueness made it difficult to fully see its beauty. I recommend to those that give this 4 or 5 stars to read it again sometime, and enjoy the extra insight a second read gives.
