"Quantum of Solace" is the winner of the bunch here and it has nothing to do with what one typically associates with James Bond. Rather, the story consists of a story told to James Bond after a dinner party. "Risico" was also quite good, as was "The Hildebrand Rarity," which serves as a showcase for Ian Fleming's overall distaste for America. I found "From a View to a Kill" to be the weakest story in the collection; it was thin and almost read like a screenplay. The stronger stories gave a world weariness to Bond that are so much more rich than the thin character played on the screen. And these stories make me really appreciate cynical, worldweary Timothy Dalton as the movie James Bond much, much more.
