I wasn't sure if I would like this book, because I'm not a SciFi fan when it comes to literature. But I was pleasantly surprised! Along with the typical SciFi themes, there was plenty of moral philosophy and political science layered in as well. I would have liked for some of those ideas to be expanded more, but I think overall Card did a good job of peppering them in.

I think I will read the next book in the series at some point. The last chapter of the book shifts the focus and tone of the book entirely, more spiritual if I may say so. I'd be interested to learn more about the Speaker of the Dead.
