** spoiler alert ** I really enjoyed this book. It has been said that it is one of the best books written about Vietnam, if not the best, and while I found it's good, it's not unbeliveably fantastic.

It's written by a draftee who served in in Vietnam in 1969 as a foot soilder and is a memoir. It starts with some great lines, I was giggling and then covers from the time he recieves his draft notice until the completion of his tour.

The author is meant to have written quite a few fiction books based around the American involvement in Vietnam that I will add to my TBR list.

“CEASE FIRE,' Captain Johansen shouted. 'Cease fire, what's wrong with you guys? Stop wasting the goddamn ammo. CEASE FIRE!'
Cease fire,' the lieutenants hollered.
Cease fire,' the platoon sergeants hollered.
Cease the goddamn fire,' shouted the squad leaders.
That,' I told Barney, 'is the chain of command.”
