I picked this book to listen to in part because the history that I was taught of central and south America was basically a fly by of sorts, revealing not much detail covered at great speed.

Pizarro's invasion and take over of the Inca empire makes a hell of a lot more sense in the context of him arriving shortly after bitter civil war for control of the empire. Roughly half of the empire was basically sitting this one out and it was only later that the hatred of the two factions of each other was replace a focused effort against Pizarro which came too little too late.
