Book Two of the Mortal Instruments trilogy was even better than the first book, for me. The various relationships between families, friends, and beyond are intertwined in very interesting ways, and Cassandra Clare handles them well. The plot of this series is really convoluted, with all KINDS of drama and craziness, and yet it all seems to make sense and flow well as I'm reading it. That's a major feat.

I was feeling some of the major relationships more in this book than in City of Bones, and of course, Clare throws a lot of doubt into what we "know" so things could go in any direction. (I'm being intentionally vague so as to avoid spoilers.)

One smaller note: all the manga references are cracking me up.

On to book three!
