Boy, if I had only had this book to read as an art history student so many moons ago! It would have made those dry lectures on architecture come to life! Meticulous analysis of disparate psychological/social realities combined with a wealth of historical detail makes this a compelling read. Any book that is able to include mention of Walt Disney's father and Jack the Ripper in the same book has to be, well, interesting.
