Read in April, 2009

The first in a series about a hunchbacked lawyer named Matthew Shardlake. Shardlake, acting as a commissioner for Thomas Cromwell, investigates a murder in a monastery. All is not as it seems, and the world is a dangerous place during this tumultuous period of Reformation.

What a great mystery and historical thriller! I couldn't have picked a better time to read it than the start of Season III of The Tudors; which concerns Henry VIII and Cromwell dissolving the Catholic monasteries.

I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
