Reading this with my daughter for her 8th grade English class. I enjoy the narrative, the characters, and the strength of Jane herself - really remarkable in light of its time. That said, it can be a tough slog with some seriously overwrought passages by modern standards. Willa thinks it is the worst book *ever* but at least now she has a ready arsenal of about 75 ways to describe a man's marble-like visage.
