This is another gros pavé, but despite it's length I was encouraged in the beginning because it's easy to read and Perec captures Parisian apartment house living to the 't,' including references to a stamp-collecting concierge. (Anyone in France who receives mail from abroad will know what I'm talking about.) But, to me anyway, it's far too weighed down in description, and after a while it feels like you're reading a flowery police report rather than a novel. I think I might be missing something, and I will blame it on my MTV-conditioned North American brain for not having the attention span to figure out just what it is.
