Sybil Danforth, a knowledgeable and well seasoned Midwife faces the courts and a trial after saving a baby's life. Sybil's teenage daughter, Connie, tells the heartfelt and wrenching story of her mother's life as a Midwife, her arrest, the trial and shares excerpts from Sybil's personal diaries.

Sybil's husband, Rand, is a constant but at times becomes frustrated with Sybil's long hours away from home delivering babies in women's bedrooms.

This novel was a real "page turner" for me and I found the writing to be exemplary.
