If you're ready to start homeschooling (or supplementing) and appreciate the tenets of classical education (heavy history focus in chronological order, memorization of key facts, recitations), then this is a very helpful book. At the end of each chapter, she gives book lists, but is careful to limit them so as not to overwhelm. She gives overviews of some of the most popular curricula--very helpful if you're trying to choose between say, Saxon and Singapore Math. Helpful "Sources" section and fully indexed. Quite comprehensive and applicable and practical rather than theoretical.
