The book The Lucky One, by Nicholas Sparks, is about a guy named Logan Thilbault who served in the Marines in Iraq. During his service on one of three trips there, he finds a picture of a girl. Carrying the picture makes Logan the luckiest man in the Marines, causing him to break the record of the most car bombs survived. His friend Victor tells him the mystery and “destiny” that he has and he goes out to find the women. When he does, he somehow falls in love with the girl, Elizabeth. After he falls in love, Logan was not able to summon enough courage to give her back the photo. Then Logan has to fight guilt, her ex-boyfriend, and the suspicions of the town.

I can connect to the world where people like Elizabeth’s ex-boyfriend become caring to the person who has left them. He still cares about her because she has a child. It is like someone divorced they will look out for the other parent and in order to protect the child from abusers and law breakers. That is why her ex-boyfriend is trying to protect Elizabeth from whatever danger that Logan, being a law breaker or abuser, might cause. Especially since there is no background check or family that can back up that Logan is Logan.

I give this book a five out of five because the book has the feeling where you wish that you can keep going on or that the ex would just give up and go away because of the great description of the chemistry between Elizabeth and Logan. There are also several points of view where you can see the point of view of Elizabeth, Logan, and the ex-boyfriend. It also shows how much Elizabeth likes Logan and where how Elizabeth’s mother and her feelings about Logan. There is also great detail about the conflict between Logan and the ex-boyfriend because the ex-boyfriend is a deputy and it is well placed with a good plot and how Logan can start a new life in the small town.
