really liked it
Read in March, 2009

I read this in one day, in part as relief from the intensity (!?) of _The Astonishing Life of Octavian Nothing_, which has more archaic language and an intense horror that I was not ready to address during spring break.

However, I am not saying this book is not intense in its own ways.... lying in bed this morning, I have been thinking about all the untold things that exist within families, what people do for love and how those things are miscontrued, or worse... and the logic of structures that hinder the clarity of those biases and intentions... Her writing, as in _Bel Canto_ , is lovely and a pleasure to read. But no, not a "light" read; I think I need something truly "mindless" to read today and tomorrow, for spring break...
