The Smiths' Meat Is Murder (Thirty Three and a Third series)
by Joe Pernice
i stand by my comment! i work with musicians, many of them are "failed musicians" and Joe Pernice falls into this catagory. He does not sustain a living from putting out records.
Pathetic. Because you live in LA, it makes sense that you criteria for judging the success of musicians is their income earned from record sales. What a useless review. You literally judged this book by its cover.
If you didn't want to read a novella, why did you read this book?
I'm not even going to address the success of Ashmont Records.
Still comments on this, yawn...I read this book because I read most of the 33 1/3 series and i like to know the story behind a record...not some made up bullshit. I got partway through this piece of junk and shelved it. So you love your little Smiths book soooooo much, and you think because you bought all the Pernice Brothers records somehow Joe Pernice is successful. I base success on how many people give two shits about the music not one yuppie fool in Sacramento!
Oh please do address the success of the independent label Ashmont Records...who Joe Pernice runs and releases his own music on...really successful. Nothing like writing your own music and releasing it yourself, that is always the formula for success...going out of pocket, great! Oh wait, they release one album every 2 years, really awesome...great model for success.
I once again stand by my review and will add that you are dumb, Steve.

I'm callling bullshit on this one. Why would I want to read a fictional account that involves a Smiths album (of all things). Oh, and it's written by a failed musican...wow, cool. Yeah, NO. When I buy 33 1/3 books I want facts, stories, tid bits, and the "behind the scenes" look about a seminal album. This was not that...far from it...and bullshit. Of course crazy Smith's fans probably love it, but crazy Smiths fans used to camp outside of Moz's house in LA until he finally got fed up and moved to Rome....so, yeah, don't trust crazy Smiths fans. BOOOOO on this book, BOOOOO.
