Malcolm Gladwell takes a balanced look at the accuracy of quick glances and snap judgements. Through many examples he shows how phenomenally accurate they can be, much more so then scientific analysis even. But he also shows how they can be off mark by deep seated prejudice and stereotyping. So the question is when to trust our snap judgment and when to think...

My favorite part was the section on IAT (Implicit Association Test). It's insightful, but yet kind of creepy to realize that I am unconsciously discriminating. Here is a link with a good background to what it's all about...
