This romantic thriller is set in the times of wealthy families, servants and lavish parties. Growing up the daughter of a fisherwoman, Mariella when she learns her true heritage, that she is the the daughter of the squire of Porthminster Hall. Traveling to Porthminster hall to meet her family, she meets her Grandpapa, Harriett and her uncle Lionel. Learning of her Grandpapa’s declining health; she stays on at Porthminster Hall and keeps her Grandpapa company at his bedside. As she begins to learn what became of her mother and brother, and she unravels her father’s death, and is drawn deeper into the wickedness of Harriett and Lionel. While Mariella’s life is threatened at every turn, she finds true love when she meets Porthminser’s estate manager Richard Carnforth.
