This is my first foray into Jack London since Call of the Wild in Jr. High School.

I'm particularly enjoying this book, as I am living in the Bar Area of California and have recently spent time in Sonoma (Valley of the Moon) and visited the Jack London Park & Wolfhouse.

Given the age of this writing, many current themes relate to it. Recession, civil unrest, the challenges to the working class, and the violence in cities. However, the role of women has, luckily, changed and we have gained much more freedom/power.
