If it were possible to give a book a negative-star rating, I'd do it. I absolutely detested this book! The only reason I even kept reading after the first 1/3 was because I kept telling myself, "come on, it's JOHN GRISHAM... something great is going to happen!" And all I can say about the reading of this book is... that's a day and a half of my life I'm never going to get back. I heartily agree with the reviewer that said the title of the book should be "Watching Paint Dry."

The plot goes like this: We worried about the weather. We picked some cotton. We hired some unsavory characters, and they worried about the weather with us. We picked some more cotton. The weather again. Baseball. The weather. More cotton. It's mind-numbing.

Come on, John. You can do better than this. Really?
