Pippi Longstocking was one of my Childhood favourite characters. I remember watching her movie over and over again.
When I found the book I was so thrilled. I have to say I'm also extremely happy that I seem to have found a version that has not been changed or edited to make it more politically correct. I have read several reviews of people being upset about Pippi's name being changed as well as her father no longer being king of the Cannibals. :0p
I mean really why mess with a good thing, if people are offended don't buy it or read it. Some things are classic and should not be tampered with. So I am here buy happy to announce in this version Pippi still goes by the name of "Pippilotta Delicatessa Windowshade Mackrelmint Efraim's Daughter Longstocking, Daughter of Captain Efraim Longstocking, formerly the Terror of the Sea, now a cannibal King" :op

This book would be great to read a chapter at a time with your child as they are not that long, and each individual chapter is like a little story in itself. I would probably recommend it for 5 years and up, just because of the content of the stories, I think it might be a bit hard for a child to grasp all the details if they where much younger. I also think at 5 and up you might get some great discussions going. :0)

Pippi is a young girl who lives in a house with no parents, her horse & her pet monkey Mr. Nilsson stay with her. She does not go to school and she makes up her own rules as she goes along. She has two best friends Tommy and Anika who live next door, and every chapter of the book they are on to a new adventure for the day. Pippi is always getting into all sorts of mischief.

I now feel the need to see if I can find the old movie somewhere, so I can add it to my collection. :0)
