really liked it
bookshelves: classics, read-more-than-once, action-and-adventure

** spoiler alert ** I enjoyed this book much more when I read it as an adult than when I read it as a teenager. Great story...some of the scenes are so powerful: Wilfred being named champion of the tournament and then fainting at Rowena's feet, de Boise-Guilbert kidnapping Rebecca as the castle is burning. There are also some slow parts; not surprising since it was first published in 1819. The strangest part of the book is that the hero and the heroine don't get together in the end. (I think Rebecca is the heroine, not Rowena. And I liked Rebecca better than Rowena--maybe Wilfred should have picked her instead.)
