A journalist's retelling of the evolution vs creationism struggle in Dover, 2002-2005. Humes does a good job of describing the people and the history of the conflict, with the trial taking up the last third of the book. This is a sobering portrait of just how effective the radical Right has been in its attempts to rewrite America and Christianity in its image. It it astounding, frustrating, and saddening to me how people can use hatred, deceit, and intolerance and still believe they are following Jesus. That's nothing like the Jesus I see in the Bible.
