did not like it
bookshelves: paranormal-romance

I'd heard mentions of Feehan as one of the authors who really boosted the visibility of paranormal romance. I was thoroughly unconvinced by her story. Lots of "Males are not to be trusted! But it's okay to use 'em for sex. But you're special, I want you and trust you" from the female shapeshifter, and "Don't do dangerous things while I'm trapped underground during the day! Wait, I can find some little extra pocket of super-power to help you out" from the male vampire.

Since that was the first story, it colored my perception of the rest, I'm afraid. The Knight was dreadful on its own -- unfortunately it had an engagingly spunky female, but the premise dragged everything else down, down, down. One of those elaborate, fantastical ways to make it so that certain people just have to have sex.

Shayne's was predictable but at least didn't fall flat on its face, while the Holly was entertaining, dealing as it did with a baker. (Slightly reminiscent of _Sunshine_ for that alone.)

Overall, though, not worth a glance.
