Weirdly scary. Very weirdly scary. I loved it. The pacing was perfect. I actually told my boyfriend "I'm only halfway through it, I know it's nowhere near the climax of the story, yet I don't understand how the hell it can get any scarier than it already is." By the way, it did get scarier and even more physiologically thrilling! I love when an author has the guts to kill off good characters, and Scott Smith has got guts! P.S. I now have a slight fear of kudzu.
