One of those books that make you question the way things are. A captivating but at times harrowing account of an early Australian settler/convict and his encounters with the traditional aborignal land owners on his chosen slice of the Hawkesbury river, made all the more interesting for the fact that the setting is within an hour or two's drive from where I live. The book tells it like it is, without taking sides and presents two sides to an unfortunate slice of History.
