I was introduced to the Mercedes Thompson books by my sister-in-law and niece because they are set in the Tri-Cities where we lived for almost 13 years (Richland, Pasco, Kenewick WA.) I really enjoyed the first three - although I am a little concerned seeing here that these books would be classified as a romance genre. Guess I'll have to man up to that!. Anyway, I wasn't really happy with the way this book started - too sexual, although still not graphic. That ended up being a major theme throughout the book. But I enjoyed the story more as it went along - so much so that I stayed up till 1 to finish it - stupid of me. I would normally say don't let the crazy sexy covers turn you away from these books because they do not represent the way Mercy actually dresses or who she is -and she doesn't have all the crazy tattoos, just the one coyote paw print on her stomach. But this one started a little more with the sexual aspect, so be warned. Anyway, the books are set in current time. Mercy is a shape shifter called a walker, which is a coyote, The stories about about her and her werewolf neighbors, her vampire friend and the fae she associates with. They have been a fun read, pretty clean as far a language and sexual content; there is violence, but nothing terribly graphic- just not so sure about this latest installment. Moon Called is the first in the series if you are interested.
