Well written and moving. The author did a really good job of combining the eight personal stories (nine if you count his own) with a lot of recent research on addiction. I was especially fascinated with the discussion of what constitutes a true addiction (does sex count? food? petty theft?) It was sort of like watching back-to-back episodes of "Intervention" but getting the full backgrounds of the people and the accompanying science instead of just those riveting scenes of people huffing keyboard cleaner or barfing up eight Big Macs.
