Donald Maass is brilliant, and in my wildest dreams he will be my agent. This book is unlike any other Writer's Digest book I've ever read in that it does not tell you how to write, but how to tell a story that will resonate with readers. Despite some of the reviews on here, it is NOT a "how to" book on how to write a formula novel. It is concise, practical advice from someone who has done his research and obviously cares very deeply for writers and for the art of storytelling. This book should be required reading in MFA programs and should be an essential read for anyone who wants more than publication, but has a dream to be a successful career novelist.
