I really enjoyed this book. If I were in my teens, I think I would read this one over and over again! Viola is the daughter of two documentary filmmakers from Brooklyn. Viola is a budding filmmaker herself, but she is devastated when her parents pluck her from her safety zone to send her to boarding school in -gasp- INDIANA for a year while they make a film in Afghanistan. While I never went to boarding school myself, I found it easy to relate to the keen observations the teenage Viola made about life, love, friends, and family. I loved the supporting characters of Marisol, Romy, and Suzanne. I do wish we could have learned a little more about them. I'm very eager to read the next Viola book! If I had read this when I was in high school... it would have a tattered cover from me reading it over and over again.
