it was amazing

The Ruins of Lace is an affecting novel about the prohibition of lace in the late 1600s in France. It mixes history and fiction brilliantly. The author did a great job of weaving the stories of seven characters, one of whom's is a dogs, and how all their lives are affected by the outlaw of lace. How can something as simple as lace affect anyone you may ask? Apparently during the reign of Lous the xlll it affected many lives...from its banishnent, to its making, and to those who were smugglers of it. This was an interesting read that is quickly engrossing and not at all dissappointing.
