I'll be honest, I didn't finish this one. I read to the halfway point and gave up. The author has all the ingredients for a fascinating memoir, but something in the presentation was offputting - I can't put my finger on it. I wanted to know more about growing up with the crumbling of your hearing, more about the issues of being outside of both the hearing AND the deaf world - I guess I wanted more of the emotion of being her and less of the mechanics. The facts have some interest, but most of them are so remote from my experience that there is no way I can sympathize - but I wanted to.
