really liked it
bookshelves: historical-fiction, teen-books

This is a jolly fun book about a girl who disguises herself as a boy and joins the navy! Due to her awesomeness and luck (both good and bad), she becomes known as Bloody Jack. Although it's super exciting, it also is somewhat disturbing in parts, including when Jacky is almost sexually assaulted by a creepy dude. But still appropriate for older or more mature teens. I really hope I get to read the rest of the series someday.
