The Storm Gourmet may be more useful than Apocalypse Chow, since it focuses on "Creating Extraordinary Meals WITHOUT ELECTRICITY." The recipes come from the "open cans and dump together" school. The only one I've tried so far is the curried chicken, which made great sandwich filling. The recipe used six different measuring utensils, which seems like a lot of dish-washing if the water supply is questionable, but the ingredients were common things that I had in my cupboards. My husband gives it the big thumbs-up.

The other concern I had regarding this book is the author's use of "table cream," which I've never heard of before. I think I'll be substituting soy milk.
